Obituary of Julia P. Williams
Julia Paczkowski Williams, 91, of Colorado Springs, went home with the Lord on July 15, 2011.Julia was born January 12, 1920 in East Lyme, Connecticut to William and Mary Paczkowski. She grew up on their Connecticut farm with her brothers, Michael, Joseph and Johnny and her sister, Vera all of whom she survived.Julia learned to fly airplanes, and was among the first group of women in history to fly. During World War II, she worked as a secretary for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut. She later worked for the United States Foreign Service, assisting diplomats in South America.In 1957, she met and married Donald Richardson Williams, a physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project. They raised two sons, Berkeley Williams (wife, Annette and children, Rebecca and Saskia) of Jena, Germany and Gordon Williams (wife, Tammi and children, Michael and Erik) of Colorado Springs. Julia was a loving mother who instilled a healthy work ethic not only in her sons, but in everyone she met. She was a fighter and an encourager.Julia enjoyed traveling. She and her husband, Don, drove cross country many times to visit family and friends and to experience our beautiful country.After Don's passing in 1993, Julia made several trips overseas. Her last trip, only one month before her passing, was to Jena, Germany to visit her son, Berkeley and his family.Julia is predeceased by her husband, Don. She is survived by her sons, their wives and her grandchildren. Mom, we miss you so very much.
