Obituary of Carolyn Joan Mowers

Carolyn was born March 1, 1928, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Leroy and Hattie Crosslen. The family moved to Black Forest, Colorado, when she was a teenager. Carolyn was Valedictorian of the class of 1946 at Lewis Consolidated School in Monument, Colorado. After graduating high school, and still living with her parents in her beloved Black Forest, she met husband Richard, stationed at Camp Carson, Colorado. They married October 3, 1947.Carolyn worked in several vocations, but always returned to her favorite profession as a homemaker. Carolyn greatly enjoyed wood-working and maintained her own shop. She was also incredibly talented in crocheting, knitting, cooking, gardening, ceramics, and painting. Carolyn loved to entertain. She enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her large family.Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and daughter, Jodee Ann. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard Edgar Mowers; two siblings, Laura Curtis and John Crosslen; six sons, Richard (Ruth), Charles (Donna), William, Peter (Lee), Alan (Sandra), Thomas (Kristina) and daughters, Cindy (Martin) Rauer and Juleen (Gina). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, Wende, Amanda, Kasie, Richey, Wendy, Brian, Kretina, Carolyn, Mark, Samantha, Michael, Travis, Jessica, Joel, Christopher, Brittany, Gino, Nicolie, and Dakota, and 17 great-grandchildren. The family is privately celebrating her life. There will be no visitation or service.
