Obituary of Claudie Gene Lott

Former Lawton resident, Claudie Gene Lott, 67, died October 3, 2011 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, October 7, 2011 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Peterson Air Force Base Chapel, Stewart Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 South Hancock Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.Claudie was born November 28, 1943 in Refugio, Texas. He graduated from Refugio High School in 1962. His college studies and football career at the Highlands University in New Mexico were cut short when he was drafted into the United States Army in September 1963. Claudie served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device (the United States military's 4th highest award for valor), the Legion of Merit, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palms and numerous other commendations throughout his career. His tours of duty also included time in Germany and Fort Sill, Oklahoma.In 1992, Claudie married Michaele Kraft. He and Michaele loved to dance and were members of the Four Seasons Dance Club. Claudie was a faithful servant and he and Michaele were active members of the Fort Sill New Post Chapel and later the Peterson Air Force Base Chapel. The couple enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their grandchildren and children. Claudie was a true cowboy at heart. He loved his boots, his hats and spending time outdoors with his family and dogs.After 29 years and 5 months of military service, Sergeant Major Claudie Lott retired and returned to college. On May 11, 1996, Claudie graduated from Cameron University and shortly thereafter he began a second career with City National Bank in Lawton, Oklahoma.Claudie was a lifetime University of Texas Football fan, a long time Lion active with the North East Lions Club in Lawton and he rode with the Silver Spurs. Claudie volunteered with the local Crime Stoppers program and served as the Treasurer for the Oklahoma Crime Stoppers. He was also on the Board for Creative Living.In 2009, Claudie and Michaele purchased a retirement home in Colorado Springs. Claudie retired as an Assistant Vice President in July 2010. That same month Claudie was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a stage IV cancer. Claudie showed extreme courage and strength for over a year. His battle against the cancer was valiant.
