Obituary of Judy Ruth Lewallen

Judy was born October 24, 1951 in Burbank, California to Marcella and Ray Lewallen. She grew up in Southern California and later moved to Colorado Springs. Judy graduated from Colorado College, and went on to obtain a Master's Degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.Colorado Springs became her home in the 1970's. She worked for Farmers Insurance and later for the Colorado College Music Department.Judy loved music, travel, and the outdoors. Her adventures took her to Australia, Europe, Venice, Asia, South America, Africa, and several trips to the Arctic. Judy passed away on October 8, 2011, of peritoneal cancer. Her family and friends appreciate the loving care that she received from the wonderful staff at Pikes Peak Hospice.Judy is survived by her sister Cathy Raible. She also leaves behind two nephews, Dan Raible and Andy Raible, a niece, Christina Lewallen, and her sweetheart and life companion, Art Porter. She lost her brother Steve Lewallen in July 2011. A celebration of Judy's life will be held at Packard Hall on the Colorado College campus, on the SW corner of Cascade Avenue and Cache La Poudre, on Friday, October 14, at 12:15 PM.
