I met Billy in 1978 when I started work SouthTrust Bank. We quickly became good friend, sharing many gret meals together, enjoying some bitchin' jazz, and even travelling together to San Francisco and Colorado. I introduced Billy to serious photography when we lived in the same apartment complex. One Friday, we bought some 3" thick prime steaks from Browdy's, a couple bottles for good Bordeaux, and other "fixins". It was so beautiful just sitting there on the counter waiting to be cooked that I pulled out my camera and began shooting. Billy took and interest, and as the say, the rest is history. Billy far surpassed anything I could have ever done with a camera. He had the gift of "seeing the light". Billy returned the favor by introducing me to jazz. I never listen to Coltrane or Mile Davis again without thinking of him. Billy and I shared a unique, obscure sense of humor. This is what I'll miss most. AT one time, Billy was closer to me than my own brother. Sadly, we had drifted apart over the years, but reconnected after the passing of his mother. I was so looking forward to getting out to Springs to spend some time with him. Billy made the world a better place by simply loving the world he lived in. Brother, I love you and I miss you.

I hadn't seen nor talked with Billy since he was in his late teens but we reconnected a few years ago and became fast friends with emails and phone conversations... He was a wonderful person who loved pretty much everyone. He was thoughtful, full of wonderful stories, and he loved his Mama! I only just heard about Billy's passing when, after months of trying to reach him and thinking he couldn't respond to my emails while on his diving trip to Turks & Caicos, I called Charlie... I was looking forward to sitting down with him "soon" and reminiscing and looking at his collection of photographs... No doubt, he's laughing with his Mom and watching over us. I'm proud to call him 'cousin'.

Billy was an avid scuba diver and will be missed by our dive club. He was quick with a joke and always ready to travel. We loved Billy and our dive trips won't ever be the same.
