VJ Williams.....Monty Ray's friend posted a condolence
Wednesday, February 22, 2012
I met Donnie through Monty Ray who also lived in Yoder. Donnie barely knew me but came all the way to Colorado Springs to try to help me with my vehicle. I greatly admired the fact that he was such a gentleman and had gone soooo far out of his way to help a virtual stranger. And he did it just because that was the kind of special man he was. I'm sure he touched more lives than we will ever know because that's just the way he was. I just heard about this tonight and so very sincerly wish to express my sympathies to his family and friends. I'm a FIRM believer in the fact that you can still talk to him and he is around and aware of all those he loved....The "good?" thing is now he can't stop us from saying whatever is on our mind....so "talk" his leg off... Love and blessings! vj

Donnie Earl Jackson, was the greatest man I've ever known. He was strong, yet gentle. Firm, yet sweet and kind. Everyone who knew him loved him. He loved Jesus. I have so many wonderful memories of my Granddaddy when I was growing up, but the part of him I want to keep with me forever is his passion and enthusiasm to enjoy life. He never complained..Ever!! He was a hard worker, a skilled sportsman, and a lover of life. I've heard so many different people on several different occasions say,"Donnie would give you the shirt off his back!"...Thats him!! I Love You, Granddaddy! You are what I think of when I think of a Real Man...What God says a man should be, how I want My Son to be!Psalm 116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." If we know Christ as our personal Savior, we need not fear dying. Death is a celebration -a homecoming! XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Donnie was a great friend and I have many fond memories. In 1953 when I moved to Colorado from Kansas, Donnie was one of the first people I met. In 1954 my mom, brother and I rented one of the cabins from Donnie's parents. There were years that we attended school activities, went to dances, worked and hunted together. Over the years we have gotten together at class reunions and kept in touch by email. He was a great guy and will be missed by many.
