The last 22 years of her working career she spent as secretary to the Dean of Students for Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights. After she and Chet retired, they bought a motor home and began touring the country. They found a community in N Fort Myers, Florida where they enjoyed visiting, and ended up buying one of the park models there. They also sold their Illinois home and bought a condo in Colorado Springs to live nearer their family. For several years, they spent their time living in both Colorado Springs and Ft. Myers. While in Florida, Betty organized and directed the community's annual talent and variety show, an activity she greatly enjoyed and took pride in.
