Hello children and family of Norma, I house-sat for Norma and briefly lived with her in 1996. I needed a temporary place to stay during my divorce, and Ross Thomas (co-worker from WAMU) was the mutual contact that put us together. I met with Norma one night and she gave me access to stay at her house immediately. What a blessing for Norma to receive me so warmly after a brief visit. I felt honored to stay in her beautiful Bainbridge Island home. When she returned from her Colorado visit, she allowed me to continue to live there. Over the years we stayed in contact and when I hadn't heard from her, I decided to do a Google-search and found the obituary. I want you to know that her kindness during my personal time in need is gratefully and deeply appreciated. I know you miss her and I hope this late condolence message will bring you comfort during the holiday season. When I remarried, my husband Greg also met Norma. She became special to us and we had several fun dinners-out on the Island. She spoke often of her kids and was proud of your accomplishments. My mom-in-law even came along on a visit and without any nudging from me, commented on "this is good coffee"--it was Alaine's. I hope you're still doing well with your coffee roasting business!
