Obituary of Barbara Ann Martin
Barbara Martin, 81, died March 29th, 2012 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born on April 8th, 1930 in Coudersport, Pennsylvania. She attended Temple University and earned a bachelor's degree in teaching. She received a master's degree from the State University of NY at Buffalo. Barbara retired in 1985 after 30 years as an educator for the Buffalo, NY school system. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1995 and volunteered for many organizations including soup kitchens, Bear Creek and Fountain Creek nature centers, CASA, and the Manitou Springs library where she read to elementary school students. She enjoyed hiking and traveling. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Bob Gillette of Shreveport, her daughter Susan Alexander, her son-in-law, two grandchildren, and three nephews and their families. A service will be held at The Community Congregational Church of Manitou Springs, 103 Pawnee Ave, on Wednesday, April 4th at 10am.
