Obituary of Gwen Hall Owens
Gwendolyn H. Owens passed away on May 3rd 2012 after a year-long battle with cancer. A recent Colorado Springs resident, she and her late husband John are formerly of Lake Anna, Virginia. Gwen is survived by two children, Marianne Owens LaRivee and Skip Owens; and four grandchildren: Buddy Owens, Jamie LaRivee, William LaRivee, and Casey Owens.Gwen was born in Leland, Mississippi, met her husband John at pilot training in Columbus, MS, and was soon off on her worldwide tour as an Air Force wife. She graduated from Marymount College in Washington D.C. with a degree in nursing, and worked as a nurse for two decades while orchestrating numerous moves for her husband and children. After retirement, she and John moved to Lake Anna, Virginia, where they were instrumental in establishing Lake Anna Rescue. Gwen was an enthusiastic bridge player, served as an EMT for Lake Anna Rescue, and was active in Elk Creek Baptist Church and the Tanyard Country Club. Gwen will be dearly missed by her family and friends.A graveside service will be held Friday, May 11th, 2012, 1:30 p.m. at Ft Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "B" in Denver, Colorado.
