Obituary of Berdena Gidley

Berdena (Berdie) passed away on May 8, 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 89. She was born and raised in Hastings, Nebraska, moved in 1966 to Colorado Springs, moved in 2000 to Green Valley, Arizona and back to Colorado Springs in 2011. Berdena was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Warren J. and Grace Spaulding Brenneman. She graduated from Hastings High School and Hastings Business College. She began her career at the Navy Depot, in Hastings, as the assistant to the commander; worked as a bookkeeper; owned a credit collection company; furniture store; and managed a retirement apartment complex in Colorado. Berdena was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Acacia Chapter #30 in Hastings, and a member and Past Queen of Daughter's of the Nile, Naamah Temple No. 108 in Hastings. Berdena married Vernon J. Gidley on February 22, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska and were blessed with 65 years together. Berdena is survived by her daughter Karen of Falcon, Colorado; nephews Aaron and Jerry Wilson of Lincoln, Nebraska; her sister-in-law Helen Bauman of French Village, Missouri; and her dog Pepper. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband Vernon, and sister Jeanette Wilson Bourne of Lincoln, Nebraska. Cremation was in Colorado Springs and a service and interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, Nebraska in June. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.TheSpringsFuneralServices.com.
