Obituary of Richard Carl Davidson

Richard Carl Davidson, age 88, passed away Saturday June 30, 2012, after a short stay in the Pikes Peak Hospice. Born April 15, 1924, in South Bend, Indiana, parents Glen and Josephine (Huber) Davidson, Richard served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II, returning to Indiana where he married Helen Francis (Ashley) Davidson. They had one child, Garry, and moved to Colorado Springs in 1961. Richard became a life insurance agent at that time before moving with his family to Germany in 1967, providing insurance services to the military until 1972 when they returned to Colorado Springs and their home in Security, Colorado. He became a Realtor and Real Estate Broker in 1976, operating a Century 21 office in Security until retiring, making many friends along the way. Helen passed away in 1997, and after ten years Richard moved to the Satellite Building where he continued to make friends and have a positive impact on many lives.Richard was a charter member of the Security Volunteer Fire Department and a fifty-year member of the Masonic Lodge, having joined in Indiana and later transferring to Lodge #191 in Fountain, Colorado. Always a man of faith, he renewed his dedication in his later years with his fellow members of the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs where he enjoyed assisting in Sunday School teaching and other related projects. During these years and at the end his church was there for him and him for them. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Thompson in South Bend Indiana, son Garry (Lois) Davidson, granddaughter Amber Leigh Davidson, grandson Andrew Carl Davidson and great-granddaughter Ivy Mae Francis Davidson, all of Colorado Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Glendale Davidson, Sister Juanita Davison, sister Virginia Madrid and many other friends. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 11:00 am, at the First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs, 317 East Kiowa Street, Colorado Springs CO 80903. Reception to follow.
