Obituary of Michael Robert Masson
Michael was an Adjunct Professor at Pikes Peak Community College and a longtime resident of Colorado Springs. He was born August 7, 1962 in Wichita, Kansas. As an Air Force dependent, he had the privilege of spending his childhood and adolescent years living abroad, learning different cultures and languages. He graduated from SHAPE High School in Belgium in 1980. He attended California State University and later transferred to San Diego State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He later earned his Master of Science Degree in Computer Information Technology and two additional graduate certificates from Regis University, Denver. While at CSU and SDSU, he was a star Cross Country and Track runner, specifically the 800M. He also used to play quarterback for the Denver semi-pro football team, "The Grim Reapers." In addition to academics and athletics, he loved animals, the great outdoors, gourmet cooking and writing. He recently saved two cats from a local shelter and later discovered that one of them is a rare Bengal cat. He published two autobiographies in the U.S. and France, "Seven Candles," and "Extraordinary Valor" and one mystery novel, "Bond of Silence." He was preceded in death by his father, Elmar Puetz.Michael is survived by his mother, Colette Puetz and brother, Martin Puetz.Memorial Service will be 2:00pm, Saturday, December 15, 2012 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
