Obituary of Juli Ann Kobilan

Juli Ann Kobilan, of Calhan, CO, passed away on December 24, 2012 at the age of 86. Juli was born on July 4, 1926 near Calhan, CO to Joe and Mary (Eurich) Dzuris. She helped her dad and uncles on the farm starting at a young age. Her mother, Mary, passed away after giving birth, which left Juli to care for her younger siblings while helping out on the family farm. She attended Fairplay School and Calhan School until that time. She also loved playing in a band at dances with her dad.She was married February 23, 1946 to her love, Elvin John Kobilan, in Calhan, CO. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2010. She was a homemaker and mother to their two sons, Darrell and Errol. She also helped Elvin operate their lawn sprinkler company, Al Kobilan and Sons Sprinkler Service, for many years. After retiring, they moved to the Calhan area where they built a home in between Elvin and Juli's homesteads. Juli loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with Elvin, friends, and grandchildren over the years. Hunting and fishing trips were one of her favorites. She enjoyed their many years of being a part of the International Polka Club of Colorado Springs. Cooking, entertaining, and spending time with friends was one of her favorite pastimes and was truly missed as her health no longer enabled her to do so. Juli is survived by her two sons, Darrell of Colorado Springs and Errol of Black Forest; four grandchildren, Laura Scott, Amanda See, D.J. Kobilan, and Kirstie DeWald; four great grandchildren, Mitchell Blain, Cortland Kobilan, Hudson Kobilan, and Kayla See. She is also survived by two siblings, Janie Kobilan and Edna Kosley and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Eddie Dzuris and Billy Dzuris, and many beloved relatives. A Memorial Service will be held at the Living Word Community Church in Calhan on Friday, January 4, 2012 at 10:00AM. The church is located at 532 Colorado Avenue in Calhan, CO on the south side of Highway 24.Memorial contributions can be made to the Living Word Community Church.
