Obituary of Donald William Marsey

As well as being the family Patriarch, Donald was a craftsman who could fix anything. He especially loved to restore Grandfather clocks, play golf, and watch the Washington Redskins and Air Force Academy Football teams. He had no fear and was a very generous person.Donald was born in Youngstown, Ohio to John & Anna Marsey, where he graduated from high school and left when he enlisted in the armed forces during WWII. He was selected to train as a pilot and captained over 30 B-17 combat missions from his base in England. He was highly decorated and is without doubt, recognized as part of this country's "Greatest Generation". He was most proud of having returned his B-17 crew to their homes without injury after the War. Donald went on to serve our country in two more wars, both in Korea and Vietnam, serving in senior advisory positions to his counterparts in their flying commands. He retired in 1977 after thirty years of service and moved to Colorado Springs in 1978.Donald is survived by his beloved wife Patricia; son Steven; grandson Michael; granddaughter Jacqueline; and brother and sister; Edward and Gloria.Visitation will be held from 9:00AM to 10:00AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00AM Saturday, January 19, 2013.
