Obituary of Patricia L. Flores

In Loving Memory of Patricia L. Flores Patricia L. Flores, 68, of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2013, with her fight against cancer. She was born on December 31, 1944, in Tucson, AZ. She is survived by her mother, Bertha Cordova, whose faith brought Patricia into the Carmelite vocation. Her mother, a cancer survivor, was also her greatest mentor during these last six months. She is survived by her beloved husband and caregiver, Gilbert T. Flores of 47 years of marriage and by their three children: Anna (Robert) Esquivel, Christina Savel, and John (Monica) Flores of Tucson. She also leaves behind her ten beautiful and talented angels, her grandchildren: Briana, Araceli, Graciela, and Maximo Esquivel, Vanessa, Cassandra, and Clarissa Savel, and Marielena, Christian, and Celeste Floresand her two sisters, Sue Pryor and Theresa Pavelich.Patricia graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1962 and three of her grandchildren attend Salpointe Catholic High School, and all of her own children are also alumni. She taught in TUSD for 30 years, and 21 of those years at Carrillo Magnet Elementary School as a Curriculum Specialist under the leadership of Ross Sheard and Henry Vega.She received a double major in Special Education and Elementary Education and Master's degree at the University of Arizona. Patricia was passionate about her faith. She was a Youth Director at Holy Family Church for 10 years. She was part of the Pima County Interfaith Council for 12 years under the organizer Frank Pierce. In 1997, she was a Lay Carmelite and was recently the AZ Coordinator for 4 ½ years. Mom loved her vocation, and this was her second family. The grandchildren will always have fond memories of Nana at the cabin in Greer: fishing, hiking, nature walks, the Narnia room, skiing, playing in the snow, telling stories around the campfire, painting, and the Butterfly Museum.Her children will always remember her scrumptious cooking, especially her posole on Christmas Eve, her strong faith, words of wisdom, and the importance of family. She would like to thank the AZ Cancer Center staff, Heartland Hospice, TMC "Peppi's House" Hospice Center, and her superior staff at Carrillo Magnet School. The family would like to thank Richard and Irma Flores, Gilbert's brother and sister-n-law, for all of their help and support in the final weeks of Patricia's life. Memorial contributions in Pat's memory may be made to Casa Maria or the Community Food Bank. A visitation will be held from 4:30PM-6:30PM, Friday, February 1, 2013 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church , 1300 N Greasewood Road, Tucson, Arizona with a Rosary recited at 6:30PM and with a Scripture Service at 7:00PM.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00AM, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Interment at Holy Hope Cemetery.Services entrusted to Ron Shafer at Evergreen Mortuary, 3015 N.
