Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Weaver
Ken (Kenny) Weaver (51) passed peacefully in his sleep the morning of February 3, 2013, to his eternal home with Jesus. Ken was born May 22, 1961, in Denver. At birth, his mother lovingly made an adoption plan for him, and he was adopted by his mom and dad, Wayne and Wanda Weaver, of Colorado Springs. Ken grew up in Black Forest with younger brother and sister, Rick and Lisa. As a child, Ken was a boundary tester, and he carried that sense of good-natured independence throughout his life. When there was fun to be had, Ken would want to be there. He graduated high school in 1979 from Colorado Springs Christian School. There he had met his best friend, Debby Hardcastle, and they were married in the Great Hall of Glen Eyrie Castle on April 29, 1984. Ken had a vast array of lifelong treasured friends. He seemed to make new friends from all walks of life on a daily basis. Ken brightened everyone's day with his quick wit and humor. It was easy to be around him because he cared about each person individually. Ken was an avid fisherman. Few things made him happier than reeling in a beautiful rainbow. When asked by envious fishermen what bait he was using, he responded, "Grapes!" Ken enjoyed skiing and took trips with friends and family to enjoy the Colorado snow each winter. The annual 4th of July family reunion breakfast was a favorite tradition. Ken and Debby enjoyed peaceful vacations in Mexico on several occasions. They had a shared dream of going on an Alaskan adventure. Ken was a lifelong animal lover and is missed by cats, Susie, Daisy, and Ellie (especially Susie).Ken was musically gifted and could really rock, or touch your soul, with his skillful guitar playing. In the eighties and into the nineties Ken played in the band Hydra with his best buddies. They performed in many venues, with crowded performances in Colorado Springs and Glendale-Denver. Ken continued to play electric and acoustic guitar and to build and refinish guitars throughout his life. Ken's skill with words and music were an inspiration.Early in his work life, Ken operated heavy equipment for the family business, Weaver Electric. He was a master backhoe operator. Then he transitioned into graphic design and started Weaver Design in 1992. His creative talents earned awards and accolades throughout the years.Ken is survived by his wife of nearly 29 years, Debby; parents, Wayne and Wanda Weaver; brother, Rick Weaver (Lisa); and sister, Lisa (Weaver) Guhl (David), along with many well-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. All of the little ones so dearly loved their "Uncle Ken" or "Uncle Ken-Bob" or "Uncle Kenny" and how he teased, tickled, and wrestled with them. As an adult, Ken was thrilled to connect with his birthmother, Mary Lou Foster; brother, Jason Foster (Lari); and sister, Cindy (Foster) LaReau. A very large group of surviving relatives includes uncles, aunts, and cousins. Ken was preceded in death by all grandparents, including his beloved Grandma Catherine Weaver. The list of people who called Ken "Brother" is long and wide. He was loved by so many and will never be forgotten because Ken loved us with grace and good humor. We are the better to have known him.A remembering service for Ken will be held Saturday, February 23, 11 a.m., Northeast Bible Chapel (NortheastBibleChapel.org).In lieu of flowers, consider The SALAM Training Centre in Bangladesh (Salt And Light As Mechanics, SIM.org), as Ken valued the new opportunities that young men receive there.
