Obituary of Marlys J. Klessig

Marlys was born in Le Mars, Iowa and lived in the rural Ireton community graduating from Ireton High School in 1956. She attended Westman College in Le Mars, Iowa and graduated with a degree in elementary education. She taught in several Iowa schools.She married Gaylord Klessig in 1961 then they moved to Wahpeton, ND where Gaylord finished his trade school education in printing. In 1062 they moved to McPherson, KS where Marly finished her bachelor's degree.Marlys and Gaylord moved to Colorado Springs in 1964 and she began her 31 year career of teaching first graders at Lincoln Elementary in Colorado Springs. In 1994 she received the "Crystal Apple" award from School District 11.Marlys retired in 1995 and she and Gay enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. They have visited every state in the union except Delaware.Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Helma Franke, her brother Daryl Franke and sister, Marilyn Bolin.She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gaylord Klessig, sister, Marjorie Franke, brother Dean (Janet) Franke, one niece and four nephews.Visitation will be from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, Monday, February 11, 2013 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
