Obituary of Charles Ray Johnson, Sr.

Charles Ray Johnson Sr. (Charley) departed from this life on February 18, 2013 in a Denver Hospital.Charley was born to Jack and Joy Johnson on July 20, 1954 in Post, TX. He attended school in Lovington, NM and graduated from Lovington High School in 1972.Charley worked in the oilfield in southeast NM before becoming an electrician. The electrical trade brought him to Colorado Springs in 1998. Charley was a proud union member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 113. He became the Business Manager of IBEW 113 in 2010. He was very dedicated to serving his brothers and sisters in the electrical trades and America's working families. Charley was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Floyd; stepfather, Orlen Floyd; his son, Shane Ray; and brother, Bobby Jack. Charley is survived by his wife, Velma Johnson; his father, Jack Johnson; and second mom, Bonnie Johnson; brothers, Danny Johnson, Jimmy Ellis, Gary Ellis and Roy Ellis; sister, Bonnie Pauline Delamater; children, Charles Ray Johnson Jr. (Chuck), Rebecca Gonzales and husband Mark, and Jeremy Charles Johnson (Chuck) and wife Cortney, his step-children, Brandon Taylor and wife Katie, Michelle Meurer and husband Brett, Jed Patton and wife Jessica; grandchildren Adilene Jordan, Marcus Gonzales, Tylen Johnson, Caden Gonzales, Erick Johnson, Karsyn Johnson, Ian Taylor and Tucker Meurer as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on February 23, at 11:00 am at the IBEW Local 113 Union Hall 2150 Naegele , Colorado Springs, CO. There will also be a Memorial Service in Lovington New Mexico.
