Obituary of Mike David Baxter
Mike Baxter died suddenly and unexpectedly April 8, 2013 on the slopes of Breckenridge doing what he loved: skiing.Mike's motto was, "God put me on this earth to play," so he did. He was a cheerful, friendly man with a great sense of humor. He played sports as a kid and continued as an adult with skiing, golf and SCUBA diving. Playing included hunting and fishing. He loved his Corvette. After growing up in the Air Force, Mike graduated from San Jose State University, CA with a Masters in Art and taught art to middle school kids for 27 years. He then moved on to administration for 10 years. He retired in 2009 as a high school principal in Milpitas, California. Mike's gift was working with "at risk" kids with tough love in communities where gang activity was prevalent. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Kennedy Baxter, mother Mary, daughters Nalani and Malia, granddaughters Kaylin and Kiley, brother Brian, sisters Sheelagh and Shanna.Donations can be made "in memory of Mike Baxter" at CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, who work with at risk kids, at www.casappr.org Please wear colorful clothing to his service in memory of his zest for life!Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
