Obituary of Betty Joyce Sharp

Betty Joyce Sharp passed away July 21, 2013 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born July 30, 1932 in Bazine, Kansas to Jake and Bertha Foos. She attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS and was a school teacher before she married Gerald W. Sharp on June 22, 1952. While he served in the navy, they were stationed in Lakehurst, N.J. before returning to their hometown of Healy, KS to farm. In 1958, Sharp Brothers Seed Company was formed. Following her husband's death, Betty moved to Colorado Springs, but continued in the farming business in western Kansas. Her parents, Jake & Bertha Foos, and brothers Willard, Glen, and Ronnie and her husband, Gerald precede her in death. She is survived by a son Jerry Sharp of Healy, a daughter Brenda Sharp, and a son-in-law Richard Robillard, both of Colorado Springs. Grandchildren include Rhiannon Foust and husband Russ of Meriden, KS; Dylan Bishop and wife Katie of Gunnison, CO; Brittanee Sharp of Dighton, KS; and Zack Sharp of Larned, KS. Her great-grandchildren are Jayce, Clyne and Chloe. Betty requested that memorial donations be sent to the Healy United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
