Obituary of Ruth Marie Meyer

Ruth Marie Meyer (born Ruth Marie Mead, March 28, 1952, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.), age 61, joined her Creator at 1:41 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, following a long illness. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by loved ones, including Dave, her husband of 42 years.Ruth, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, was a U.S. Postal Service worker from 1973 to 2000, serving as clerk, postal personnel, express mail coordinator, and an active member of the American Postal Workers Union. She was a member of Calvary Worship Center and Women of Hope, and a founder of a social and support group for postal widows. She was also an avid reader and outdoor recreation enthusiast; many weekends saw her camping, boating, and enjoying the outdoors with her family. She loved watching her family, especially her grandchildren, sing karaoke.Ruth always dreamed of owning a brand new house, a dream that came true in recent years with the purchase of a winter residence in Yuma, Ariz. Ruth thoroughly enjoyed shopping at flea markets and garage sales and was never seen without cute clip-on earrings to match every day's outfit. She is survived by her husband, David R. Meyer, her son, BeauDavid Meyer, and his wife Kelly, of Albuquerque, N.M.; her son Jonathan R. Meyer and his wife Jenny, of Colorado Springs, CO; and four grandchildren: Zackery, Cassie, Jordan and Julia. She is also survived by three siblings: Dan, Alan and Taria, and numerous other family and friends.A Gathering of Friends will take place from 5:00PM-7:00PM on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
