Obituary of Margaret Peggy Nicodem-Herzfeld
Margaret (Peggy) Kathryn Herzfeld, 89, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 27. Peggy was born April 5, 1924, to John Victor Nicodem and Lillian Margaret Emmett of Neenah, Wisconsin, and grew up in Princeton, Wisconsin.She served in the U.S. Navy WAVES in San Francisco during WWII, attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, and married Robert C. Herzfeld of Milwaukee in 1950. They moved to Colorado in 1971 and divorced in 1974.Peggy worked for many years as a teaching assistant in Longmont, in Crestone, and in Loveland, before moving to Colorado Springs in 2008. She loved helping children learn to read. She is survived by a sister, Jacqueline King of Hampton, VA; by her nine children: David J. Herzfeld, of Merritt Island, FL; Thomas C. Herzfeld of Riverton, UT; Robert G. Herzfeld of Colorado Springs; Stephen J. Herzfeld of Orland Park, IL; Jeffrey A. Herzfeld of Denver; Mark A. Herzfeld of Denver; Mary K. Marsh of Cypress, TX; Ann T. Herzfeld of Santa Fe, NM; and Christopher P. Herzfeld of Laguna Beach, CA; and by 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held for Peggy at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, at St. Paul's Catholic Church.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
