Obituary of Judith Darlene Leigh

Judith Darlene Leigh, 73, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed to glory on December 31, 2013.She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on September 4, 1940 to Louis and Ethyle Johnson. She graduated from high school in Frederic, Wisconsin and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Taylor University, Upland, Indiana. She married Donald Leigh in Siren, Wisconsin on August 11, 1962.Mrs. Leigh worked tirelessly with her husband to plant and serve Evangelical Free churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Colorado serving as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Women's Ministries leader even while battling Multiple Sclerosis. With her husband, Judy enjoyed travel to Texas in the winter and to their mountain retreat in Colorado. Many remember her continued faith and positive attitude even as her need for care increased. After her husband's death in 2011, she lived at Laurel Manor Care Center in Colorado Springs and attended the Rocky Mountain PACE program.She is survived by her daughter Susan (Daniel) Brooks of Bloomington, Minnesota, and son Steven (Kelley) Leigh of Woodland Park, Colorado. She is also survived by grandchildren Jamison Brooks, Catherine Brooks, Andrew (Kayla) Leigh, Tyler Leigh, Isaac Leigh, and Lucas Leigh.Mrs. Leigh is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Luann Johnson, Linda Johnson, who died in infancy, and her husband. A Memorial Service to honor Judy Leigh's life will be held at First Evangelical Free Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado at 10:30AM on Monday, January 6, 2014.
