Obituary of Charles Earnest Mc Millan
Charles Earnest Mc Millan, 81, passed away in his home in Colorado Springs on January 1, 2014. Charles was born on June 11, 1932, to William Joseph Mc Millan and Lillie Marie Richardson, in East Point, Georgia.Charles served over 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in 1950. Following basic training and technical school, he served tours of duty in Arizona, California, Georgia, Korea, North Carolina, and Vietnam. It was while he was assigned in North Carolina he met and married his wife of over 45 years, Laura Rachel Mc Millan. Following his retirement from the Marines in 1971, he and his family moved to Colorado Springs.Above all, Charles was a devoted family man, who loved spending time with family, celebrating family events and telling stories. He was passionate about his pet dogs and used his carpentry skills to build dog houses that he donated to the local animal shelter. He was also an avid gardener. He was a loving, generous and humorous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His deep faith in the Lord guided his life, inspired his family and now gives them comfort.He is survived by his wife, Laura Mc Millan; son, Phillip Lively; daughter, Sharon Glosson; daughter, Susan Mc Millan and son, Douglas Mc Millan; four grandchildren: Kyle Glosson, Grant Glosson, Ariel Collins and Christopher Mc Millan.In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 719.302.8725, www.hsppr.orgA Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, at 10AM, at the Pikes Peak Christian Church, 4955 Bradley Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80911.A private Funeral Service with full military honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
