Obituary of Mindy Rae Farist

Mindy Rae Farist, 38, of Colorado Springs, won her battle against cancer on Friday, February 7, 2014.She was born to Rick Farist and Diana Stone on March 13, 1975. Mindy graduated from Bemidji State University in 2004 and earned a teaching degree with honors. She accomplished this while raising her young daughter, Maegan. Mindy worked for District 49 at Skyview Middle School, where she changed the lives of many students. Most of her students describe her as loving, caring, and say that she had a contagious smile that lit up the room.In 2009, Mindy gave birth to a miracle, her daughter Brighton and this is when her battle with cancer began. Mindy underwent surgeries, radiation, and countless chemotherapy. Mindy never forgot what she was fighting for, to see her baby grow up and that gave her enormous strength. Mindy's faith in the Lord was truly inspiring; she never questioned His plan, only embraced the journey. Mindy was loved by so many, but no one compared to her mother, Diana, who was there with her every step of the way.Mindy is survived by her daughters, Maegan (Sean), 23, Brighton, 4, and Ashton, 21; mother, Diana Stone; father, Rick (Laura) Farist; sister, Michele (Aaron) Manly; grandparents, Hank and Jutta Westrich; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many more loved ones.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made at ENT Federal Credit Union, "Mindy Farist Education Fund for Brighton".Please come and celebrate with us and remember and honor Mindy Farist.
