Obituary of Betty Jean Lehr

Betty Smith Lehr, 71, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at her home.She fought a brave, brief battle with cancer and her fight ended February 24, 2014. Betty was born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 31, 1942, to Daisy and Albert Eder. Betty was the sister of seven siblings. Betty had seven children, James Lehr of Cheyenne, Wyoming, John (Tracy) Lehr of Cortez, Colorado, Bonni Chasteen of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michaele (Brock) Wilcox of Driggs, Idaho, Robin Lehr (Laura) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Tracy Lehr (John) of Cortez, Colorado and Samantha (John) Boutin of West Monroe, Louisiana.Betty moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1974 where she met, fell in love, and soon married Andrew Lehr who was in the United States Air Force. On April 10, 1977, Betty became a military wife. Betty, Andrew, and the children had many adventurous moves while Andrew served in the military. They moved from Colorado Springs to Klamath Falls, Oregon; to Wichita Falls, Texas; then across the ocean to Naples, Italy; and back across the ocean to Mountainview, California. Betty and Andrews final destination was back to Colorado Springs, Colorado in March of 1990.Throughout the years, the family grew to include sixteen wonderful grandchildren, John Eric, Preston, Jessica, Elise, Myra, Vance, Ariel, Dylan, MaKenzie, Christopher, Season, Tara, Donovan, Hailey, Tristan and Lily Ann; and twelve great-grandchildren, Cory, Nicole, April, Serenity, Lexi, Jaydin, Hayden, Dominic, Philisha, Oliva, Sophia, and Elijah.Betty's fondest memories were while stationed in Naples, Italy. She enjoyed the opportunities she and Andy had to travel around Europe and have her photo taken with Pope John Paul II. She enjoyed camping, sewing, fishing, music, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Betty is survived by four brothers, Larry, Jim, Bob, Bill Smith; and one sister, Gloria Such; husband, Andrew Lehr; and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
