It was quite a shock to hear of Steve's passing. I worked with Steve at Downings back in the early 70's when I was in high school. It was always a great time when he and I got out of the store to make a delivery. I wish to send my condolences to his family.

We are so very heartbroken for you all - Barb, Stephanie, Steve & Kris, Maddie & Trinity. This world has lost a caring husband, father, father-in-law & grandpa. While you've gained a wonderful angel in Heaven to watch over you always, we know how sad you feel not having him here with you. You're all in our thoughts & preyers - love you!

Steve has left us longing for more. He was a bright star that competed with the sun. Always smiling, always helping, lugging that huge canopy everywhere for his Cushman friends to sit under. He was absent of vanity, full of humility and grace. He was a man's man and a woman's hero! We loved him! Barb our sympathy and love will always be there. May memories of our good times together comfort you as they will us. We love you and are crying with you. Steve was indeed one of a kind!

Barb, my deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. I will forever keep Steve in my thoughts and memories. I'll miss going out to unload scooters at five in the morning and having a cup of coffee with Steve in the darkness. He was a true friend from the first time I ever met him. He was the one that could always be counted on to help others without being asked just because that was his way. I'll forever miss telling stories and laughing with him under the numerous "beer trees" we shared through the years. We would all be better people if were more like Steve.

Barb and family, I am so sorry that Steve has left us. He was a smart, kind and warm man with a terrific sense of humor and a lot of determination. I read through some old CO Cushman Club Newsletters and thought I would share a few of his accomplishments that demonstrate his commitment to finishing what he started. 1992- Steve and Mike rode their Cushmans from Colorado Springs to Springfield MO. This was a 714 mile ride and the longest for any club member at that time. The December issue of the CCC Highlander reported Steve and Mike had ridden a total of 3,000 miles each, on their Silver Eagles during the year. 1993- Steve and Mike rode to the National meet in Shelby, KY. They received the award for the longest distance riding a scooter to the meet, over 1,200 miles. The "Pikes Peak Boogie" started in 1991, was becoming famous throughout the Cushman Community and still is celebrated today. Steve, Mike and their families made it a success. 1996- Steve was elected to the CCOA Board of Directors as the Area Representative - Mountain. Steve also made another milestone that year. He rode his scooter the longest distance to the National meet in Monroe, Michigan, a total of 1,492 miles. Barb followed in their newly restored 1966 Ford Cab over Truck. The 6th annual "Pikes Peak Boogie" was a huge success with 63 riders in attendance. 2002- Steve was given the "Special Member Award" by the Colorado Cushman Club. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by the Cushman family and by me.
