Obituary of Leroy Leonard Chavez

Lenny was born in Alamosa, Colorado to Rosemarie DeHerrera and Leroy Jose Chavez. He lived in Chama, Colorado when he was a child, but has lived in Colorado Springs for forty-six years. He was raised by his aunt, Percy, and uncle, Fabian Cisneros, for most of his life. His uncle, Fabian, preceded him in death. Lenny is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Caryn (Maestas); three sons, Dedrick (Angela) Quintana, Leroy (Adriana) Chavez, and Eloy Chavez; a daughter, Selina (Alice) Archuleta; grandchildren, Adrien, Giovanni, Dedrick Jr., Xzavier, Savannah, Santiago, Angelina, Angel, Orlando as well as two more grandchildren expected this summer; four brothers, Brent (Norma) Quintana of Colorado Springs, Darryl and Jason Chavez of Denver, and Doran (Tracy) Chavez of Hawaii. Lenny was raised very closely with Percy's daughter and the Medina family and called them all his brothers and sisters. He was like a dad to many of his nieces and nephews. Lenny was a painter and specialized in custom woodwork. He was a subcontractor for Gospel Light Painting. Lenny loved life and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He had many friends and relatives, and spent time with them often. He enjoyed being in the mountains, watching the Broncos, spending time in San Luis, going to dances, or just hanging out and partying with his family and friends. Lenny was also an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for everyone. He had a great sense of humor, making people laugh every day and was always the 'life of the party'. He will be greatly missed.
