Michael was a big-hearted, generous and kind man, whose sense of humor never failed, even in his difficult last months and weeks. His nurses told me what I already knew: he was always, even when in pain, a gentleman; many nurses called him a friend, and an inspiration. Michael graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts. His grandmother had hoped and predicted he would do this when he was an infant in arms. It didn't seem a possibility to him in his youth, but he worked hard to get there, to get it done, and succeeded, making many friends along the way. Michael was also talented with his hands; he could repair things, and he could build things, from a new fence to the complete rebuilding of his mother's kitchen. Michael loved his dogs, and his idea of heaven was to go to some remote spot with his dog and spend the day fishing. Michael is strong and close in my heart. May his strong faith, patience in adversity, and generous spirit be alive in us who were lucky enough to know him.
