Obituary of John Francis Griffin, Jr.

John Francis Griffin, Jr. passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 16, 2014, after suffering the effects of Parkinson's Disease for many years. John was born on June 9, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Jack and Mary Griffin. John was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary; and sisters, Mary Gertrude Halloran and Patricia Littleton.John met the love of his life, Diane Marie Schuller, when he was in 8th grade and Diane was in 9th grade. They married on October 28, 1950 after an eight year courtship. John spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. John is survived by his loving wife Diane of sixty-three years and five children, Elizabeth (Michael) Slanco, John (Debbie) Francis III, Mark, Kelly, and Kerry Griffin; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. John spent his career at AT&T in Minneapolis and Red Wing, Minnesota, Omaha, Nebraska, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Outside of work, he enjoyed time with his family, anything outdoors, and travelling the world with Diane.John was active in the Colorado Springs community and believed strongly in giving back to his community. He was on the boards of ARC of Pikes Peak, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and Greccio Housing. John was active in Marriage Encounter and Faith & Light. John leaves a void in the lives of all of those he met and, as a good Irishman, he never met a stranger.
