Obituary of Margaret Ann Reaves
Margaret Ann (McCullough) Ralls Reaves (Mac to her many friends), 85, died on April 15, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado due to complications from congestive heart failure. Mac was born on November 2, 1928 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Hazel and James N. McCullough. She spent her childhood riding horses, shooting guns, and being a tomboy along with her older brother, Jim; younger sister, Rita; and brother, Bill. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and went on to attend St. Scholastica's Catholic Girl's boarding school in Canon City for two of her high school years. After graduation, she attended Loretto Heights Catholic Women's College in Boulder. She didn't feel quite cut out for the college life and, after a few semesters, went to work for her father at his restaurant, the Village Inn on Bijou Street in Colorado Springs until she met and married Edwin Ralls on January 16, 1950. They were married twenty four years when Ed passed away. Mac married Roger Reaves in November of 1975 and they were married until his passing in September of 2002. Mac lived all over Europe and the United States and spent nineteen years in Fort Worth, Texas before she and Roger came back to Colorado for good. She worked throughout those years as a manager in numerous restaurants and as a real estate agent in Texas. She was never afraid of hard work and was the kind of person that employers dream of having on their payroll. She was a loving and fierce mother to her daughter and instilled in her an independent spirit. Mac had the most generous and loving nature and was a born caretaker of her loved ones. She also had a quick and fiery temper and would not hesitate to tell you exactly what she thought and, believe me, you did not want to get on her bad side. She could be as implacably unforgiving as she could be kind, generous, and loving. In her last years, her big loves were her little dogs. Mac is survived by her brother, William; daughter, Sharon; son-in-law, John; grandson, Cameron; daughter, Jerry; son-in-law, Dale; granddaughters, Charlotte, and Michelle; great-granddaughter, Megan; stepdaughter, Suzi; Suzi's husband, Gerry; step-granddaughter, Dana; step-great-granddaughter, Stella, numerous nieces and nephews; and her many, many friends. A Memorial Mass was held at the Penrose Hospital Chapel on Sunday, April 27, 2014. We will miss her smiling face…Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
