Obituary of Fern Marie Pitman
Fern Marie (Olson) Pitman, 85, went to spend Easter with Jesus, her Savior, on April 18, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She died at home, surrounded by her loving family.Fern was born on October 29, 1928, in Harlingen, Texas, the only child of Sidney Emory and Edra Truett Olson. She lived in the Rio Grande Valley until they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, when she was about eight years old.She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1946, and, on April 23, 1948, she married her husband, Fred R. Pitman; to whom she was married just shy of 66 years.After living in Corpus Christi until 1975, Fern and her husband moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he attended Tennessee Temple Bible College. After his graduation, they moved to Colorado Springs in 1978, and, after brief stays in Farson, Wyoming, and East Bend, North Carolina, they moved back to Colorado Springs in 1984, where they stayed until her death.Fern was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Fred; three sons, Ronnie Alan (Suzanne) Pitman of Richmond, Virginia; Kenneth Lee (Chris) Pitman of Yoder, Colorado; and Dana Joe (Lou Ann) Pitman of Robstown, Texas; seven grandchildren, Lindi Kay (Thomas) Dinn of Sandia, Texas; Amy Christine Murray (husband Joshua) of Ellicott, Colorado; Lisa Ann (Chris) Muse of Robstown, Texas; Keri Lynn (Jeremy) Bertsch of Ellicott, Colorado; Jonathan Lee (Melissa) Pitman of Dumas, Texas; Christy Marie (Jonathan) Diss of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Ryan Daniel (Amelia) Pitman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also loved by fifteen great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Mikayla, Haley, Hannah, Connor, Elijah, Colin, Evie, Rorie, Emma, Abby, Rebekah, Lanie, and Rebecca.Fern's graduation service will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Ellicott Baptist Church, 24075 Highway 94, Ellicott, Colorado. Pastor John McKenzie will officiate.A Graveside Service will follow at 2:15PM, Monday, April 28, 2014, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Ellicott Baptist Church.
