Obituary of Gladys Mae Saxton

Miss Gladys Mae Saxton was born January 12, 1961 in Barnwell County and entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 20, 2014 in the Palliative Care Unit at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gladys was the daughter of the late Mr. John Henry Saxton and the late Lucrisha Ferguson. Early in life, she joined the Shrub Branch Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina and she remained a member throughout her life. She was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years at several long-term care facilities in Colorado Springs. Gladys will be remembered as kind, easy to get along with, and a good mother. The love that she had for others and her ability to not complain, but instead be contented to wait until her time came will continue to live in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. She is survived by her sons, Quincy (Natalie) Saxton, and Allen (Kari) Saxton, both of Colorado Springs; fiancé, Harold "Hal" Cornelius; sister, Carlena (Frank) Isaac of Blackville, South Carolina; grandson, Asante Saxton of Colorado Springs; grandmother, Mrs. Kayollie Ferguson of Williston, South Carolina; uncles, Mr. Willie (Connie) Ferguson of Bamburg, South Carolina, Mr. Ezell Ferguson of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mr. George Ferguson of Williston, South Carolina, and Mr. Dennis Ferguson of Williston, South Carolina; aunts, Linda (Mack) Ferguson of Blackville, South Carolina, Lisa (Micheal) Ferguson of Williston, South Carolina, Shelia (Charlie) Ferguson of Williston, South Carolina, and Ann Ferguson; one niece, one nephew, as well as a host of other friends and relatives.
