Eric was one of the first guys to give me a chance to play professionally. I will always remember driving down to Walsenberg in the middle of a major blizzard to play a New Year's Eve date twenty five years ago when I was a young teenager. I thought for sure the gig would be cancelled, but to my surprise Eric was already there set up and ready to play right on time- it really made an impression on me about how seriously music drives the human spirit- and that spirit was on display with every performance with Eric. He had a great demeanor as a band leader and as a man too. I can't think of a band leader more patient and professionally prepared. Even though he is gone, his recordings with the Academy will live on as a true legacy to future musicians. Rest in peace Eric, your class and musicianship will be missed. -Eric Eberhardt (Former player with Firebird)

Eric, In our 6 years together, we shared so many, many wonderful moments despite our going different paths with different life partners. The amazing thing with us was our ability to still work together and have fun doing it for several years afterwards. We had a one of a kind friendship that most people could never possibly understand...to the point that you even came to my wedding after our split... because of that connection. I never stopped loving or caring about you as I\'m sure you knew. I cherish all the times we worked together in \Firebird\" and performed in gigs all around Colorado...I still can\'t believe I won\'t see you again for a while but I\'ll never stop thinking of you and I know I\'ll see you again one day."

I will miss father playing the piano. He was such a great musician. I grew listening to him playing with the band going to his concerts on the weekends. I am still can't believe that he he is gone, but I can tell you he is playing the piano in Heaven. He will be truly missed. Daddy I love you!

The loss of Eric is hard on us all. He was my former husband and friend. He was a great musician, very talented to say the least. Myself, Bob my (our) daughter Tara,Derrick, Ayanna, Nayla, Joyce family and freinds will miss him a lot! He will forever be in our hearts! Until we meet again! Sweet Dreams Eric!
