Obituary of George "Dutch" Mathias Heschele
George Mathias "Dutch" Heschele, age 93, passed peacefully into eternal life on May 9, 2014. He was born to German immigrant parents, Joahana Dorwaldt and Gotthilf Lawrence Heschele on April 16, 1921 in San Francisco, the youngest of five children. He was pre deceased by all of his siblings as well as his first wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Tucker, and young son, William "Bill" Heschele. He subsequently married long-time friend, Lois Earley, and they enjoyed 23 wonderful years together traveling and watching their grandchildren grow up.Dutch enlisted in the Army Air Corps following the World War II attack on Pearl Harbor in 1942 and became a pilot, flying B26 Bombers and C46 and C47 Transports in the Fifth Air Force, South Pacific Theater, receiving many medals and decorations. He was involved in the planning of NORAD during his last assignment in Colorado Springs, retiring after 23 years of service. He immediately joined Hewlett-Packard in a supervisory/management capacity for an additional eighteen years, retiring once again in 1983.Woodman Valley Chapel was in its infancy when Dutch became a member and gave his time and talents: he volunteered daily as its office manager for over six years and as Finance Director and Elder as well for many years.Dutch is survived by his loving wife, Lois; son, Steve (Claudia); daughters, Susan (Jim), Jane, and Nancy (Stephen); eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
