Obituary of Gerald Wayne Byrd

Gerald Wayne Byrd, 48, of Peyton, Colorado passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at his home of an unexpected medical emergency.Gerald Wayne Byrd (Wayne) was born August 13, 1965 and raised in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of Gerald and Patricia (Mann) Byrd. He graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming in 1983. With two consecutive music scholarships he attended college in Casper, Wyoming then Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota graduating in 1989 with his Bachelor of Arts and Science. He then started playing his trumpet professionally in Rapid City, South Dakota. After moving to Parker, Colorado he began his professional fishing career. This led him to further opportunities to speak and write about fishing, which he loved. On February 21, 2009 he married his wife, Ranata. After blending his family and hers with two additional children, they resided in Peyton, Colorado.Wayne is preceded in death by his grandparents.He is survived by his wife, Ranata Byrd of Peyton, Colorado; four sons, Isaac Coover of Peyton, Hayden Byrd of Parker, Kian and Rylan Byrd of Peyton; three daughters, Ariana (Steve Schuelke) Coover of Peyton, Mikenna and Brynna Coover of Castle Rock; parents, Gerald and Patricia Byrd of Spearfish, South Dakota; brother, Steven (Kristine) Byrd of Spearfish, South Dakota; two nephews, Colter and Cannon Byrd of Spearfish, South Dakota; and many other relatives.
