I had only known Dave for a short time at work and I regret that I did not get a chance to know him better. He had a great attitude, he was always willing to help, he loved his music loud and rocking. I remember on several mornings, him going up this hill to check on things behind the main NIST Campus and I am sure he had seen some spectacular sunrises from that vantage point. So now every time I look up to that hill, I think of Dave. My condolences to his family.

Had the privilege getting to know Dave working at NIST as a Contractor for the past 3 years for Sky Blue Builders. He quickly became more than someone I merely interacted with. Dave became a friend. He would stop by my office almost daily, coffee in hand, mostly just to shoot the breeze. When work called he would provide guidance to me as Safety Manager, and as a Contractor working on site, drawing on his experiences as a Contractor at NIST. Dave was truly inspirational through his illness. Upbeat, never negative. We would laugh at the nicknames he would come up with for my co-workers and he would tell stories of where he worked in various locations. Dave would work in professional manner that was contagious. He is already missed. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dave's passing. While I only knew Dave through interactions at NIST, I found I could always rely on his judgement and help. We had our last conversation only a few weeks ago regarding a chemical storage facility, and even through his illness, the safety of the staff was uppermost in his mind.

I worked with Dave for a brief time at NIST and was sad to hear of his passing. Dave was one of those people who had goodness in him which made you feel happy even on rough days. He was very smart, kind, trustworthy and reliable. I feel blest to have known him and my prayers go out to his family and loved ones as I can only imagine how much he will be missed.

It has been my privilege and honor to have known and worked with Dave over the last few years. He was a great friend, husband, and family man and had a genuine interest in the well-being of all people. Dave had an incredibly strong sense of right and wrong, especially with regards to work and friendship ethics, and very high principles that he stuck to no matter what; he was a man that you knew you could trust and rely on. If he was ever in situations where he had the choice between the right way, and the easy way, then for Dave the right way would always be the path to take. I thank him for all his worldly accomplishments and also for his honesty, enthusiasm, and frankness. Nothing was impossible for him. He touched many lives and made a difference. He is missed but I am confident that the sweet Lord took him and weâ

I knew Dave in that I worked with him for the past two years. While I only knew Dave a short time, I'd like to think I know something about Dave. Dave was a man that would never hesitate to take charge and do what had to be done. Dave was a fighter, and always fought for what was right, no matter the consequences. His dedication was and still is an inspiration to us all. While aware of his issues, he never let that define or hinder him in any way. Nothing kept him from doing what he wanted or needed to be done. My biggest regret, or surprise, is that Dave was taken from us so early, as I said, he was a fighter. While I believe he led a full life, having heard many tales of his adventures, I will miss hearing any future stories to be told. My only consolation is knowing that he is suffering no more and in a better place.

I knew Dave through interaction on site construction projects that we both worked on. What sticks in my mind about Dave is the way he carried himself throughout his illness to the very end. His positive attitude, dignity and caring disposition are truly missed. He did not withdraw from life, but rather was an inspiration to everyone around him and continued fulfilling his daily activities and commitments with the same integrity as he always possessed. Dave will not be forgotten.

I am blessed to have known Dave for about 4-1/2 years. We worked together on 3 projects when he worked as a contractor on NIST projects. We became friends immediately and began joking, laughing, and enjoying each others company. I talked to Dave inn the parking lot every morning before we went into our offices to begin our work day. After my projects were completed, a safety position became opened with EMSS and I told Management about an excellent contractor (Dave) whom I had threatened several times not to call me at 4:45am in the morning before work. It breaks my heart not to see Dave in the morning because he was a very hard worker, a wonderful father, and a true friend. I will miss David....

Dave was such an inspirational person, with a great sense of humor. His can do attitude was contagious. I will miss our daily bantering about how we loved the color of each others hair, it was a running joke. Dave's fortitude throughout his illness was an example of grace under duress. He never complained about his situation rather he pressed onward. Ovid said, "The spirited horse, which will try to win the race of its own accord, will run even faster if encouraged." Dave touched me and encouraged me as a man, father and coworker. I will take comfort in this Hebrews 13:5: "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (NKJV). I am grateful to have known such a wonderful man.
