Obituary of Michal Edna Childress

Michal Childress, age 68, a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1996 and formerly of Woodland Park, Colorado, Central Texas and New Mexico passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 25, 2014 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.Michal Edna Childress was born on February 1, 1946 in Portales, New Mexico to the late Alvin and Edna (Dawkins) Childress. She attended Newman High School in Sweetwater, Texas and attended Santa Monica Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Accounting.Michal was interested in history, travel and historical preservation. She was a volunteer, a wonderful mother and most importantly, a terrific grandma.She is survived by her daughter, Marti (Matthew) Daly of Monument, Colorado; and her son, Alan Haney of Wickford, Rhode Island. She is also survived by her brother, Boyd (Mary) Childress of Portales, New Mexico; and her grandchildren, Sarah and Scott Liebowitz and Tommy and Jason Daly.A private family celebration of life will be held at her daughters' home on July 31, 2014.
