Obituary of Rosemary Gillaspie

Rosemary Gillaspie, longtime Colorado Springs resident, went home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2014. She was born on December 18, 1944 in Michigan. Her parents were Lewis and Beatrice Hall who preceded her in death. Rosemary was married from 1959-1977 to Grant Gillaspie. The union ended in divorce. Rosemary had no children of her own, however at one time regularly sent money to a young boy she sponsored. He lived in an underdeveloped country. She would proudly show his picture and call him son.Rosie was a kind and giving person who would give her last to a person in need. Rosie became an activist after having a stroke in her early 30's and becoming wheel chair bound. She went to Washington DC and protested for wheel chair accessibility in buildings. She was arrested during this protest. She was quite proud to be a part of promoting change regarding wheel chair accessibility.She was active in her local stroke club for many years. She was quite social and loved attending social gatherings. She had a love for holidays and would dress in fun holiday attire. She loved playing group games especially bingo. She loved sports and was an avid Denver Bronco fan. She tried to never miss a Bronco game on TV. She would often wear Bronco T shirts to show team support.Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Beatrice Hall; her brother, Robert Hall; and her sister Patricia Hall.Rose is survived by her sister, Virginia (Steve) Parker; brother, Kenneth (Frances) Hall; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and fifteen nieces and nephews.Thru the adversity and great challenges of a physical disability for 30 plus years Rosie's smile never wavered. Never stating in any way that her cross may be too tough to carry.Rosie was quick witted with a great sense of humor.
