Obituary of Lorna Jane Silvers

Lorna Silvers, age 75, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was a dental assistant, loving aunt and dear friend.Lorna Jane Silvers was born to Herman and Marie Graff Beck on July 7, 1939 in Grinnell, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm and went to through the 8th grade at country school Chester #1, which was located on the family farm. She graduated from Grinnell High School in 1957. She worked at Cunningham Drug store and for Dr. Peter Boeke in Grinnell. She moved to Colorado in 1966 and started working for C.R. Elliott, D.D.S. as a dental assistant, retiring after 20 years there. She was married to Albert Silvers in 1968 which ended in divorce.Lorna loved the mountains, playing Bingo, gardening, camping, fishing, traveling, needle work, baking, and eating out. She was on the board of directors of her condominium complex and a member and Queen of the Women Gone Wild Red Hat group.Lorna is survived by her niece Sharon (Billy) Howerton of Altenstadt, Germany, her nephews David Beck of Grinnell, IA, Kenneth (Jennifer) Beck of Grinnell, IA, Leon (Donna) Beck of Grinnell, IA, Roger (Sue) Beck of Manchester, IA, Daryl (Kelly) Beck of Grinnell, IA; sister-in-law Karen Beck of Grinnell, IA; brother-in-law Alfred (Judy) Silvers of Omaha, NE; and step-grandchildren Steven and Christina Silvers of Loveland, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond and Richard Beck, sister-in-law Alice Beck, step-children Randall, Barbara and Steven Silvers. Memorial Services will be held at 11AM, Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4925 Farmingdale Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A luncheon reception will follow at the Christ Center at Bethel Lutheran.
