To Robin, John and Emily, I am so heartbroken over the loss of John. He was such an honorable, smart, caring man. you all looked so happy when we Blooms and Kellers barged over your yard at the lake this August. I haven't been able to drive by your place on L' Homme Dieu without thinking about you all, and praying for you to find comfort from how beloved he was to so many. "Don't be dismayed by good-byes. I have known the Whitten family for many years. John was a manager for me when I was coaching the Cheyenne Mountain High School Basketball team. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family. Everyone that was lucky enough to know John knew what a special person he was

I am deeply saddened by the passing of John. I did not get a chance to visit with him much but when I did, I could tell that he was a kind and generous man. I have the honor of having his daughter-Emily as my daughter-in-law..more like a daughter! I have no doubts she will carry on John's wonderful qualities with bringing up their child. My hearfelt sorrow goes out to Robin and your family at this difficult time. Peace be with you all.

I always very much enjoyed our long, lengthy conversations about football (my husband was a coach & my son played). John's ease of spirit allowed so many to feel welcome in his presence. He had this way of inviting others in and encouraging his friends and colleagues as they walked out their particular life journey. John adored his family, sharing his heart and love for them as he often spoke of them - always with the highest praise and adoration. To the Whitten family - you don't know me but I did have the opportunity to get to know John over the past few years with our connection with CSLI. We recruited him on his leadership and collaboration skills in this community. And then I was fortunate to enjoy his dry and amazing sense of humor, love of football, and love of family. He was instrumental in the success of my business in Colorado Springs and believed in me sometimes more than I believed in myself. When I met my husband (Terry) John told me to be cautious until he found out Terry was a Husker! After moving to Houston, we always visited John on our trips to Colorado. We will miss him dearly.
