Obituary of Peggy Lou Bennett

Peggy Bennett, age 70, a longtime resident of rural Peyton and Colorado Springs passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at her ranch with her family at her bedside. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend. She was a mom, a farmer, a gardener, a retailer and dog lover who will be best remembered for her work ethic and wonderful sense of humor.Peggy Lou Bennett was born on December 7, 1943 in Colorado Springs to the late Virgil and Margaret (Bunch) Gieck. She was a graduate of Edison High School and had one year of college. She married Sidney D. "Pete" Bennett on October 24, 1964. "Pete" passed away in January 2009.Peggy had a kind and gentle spirit that was selfless and generous. She loved hard work, the outdoors, hummingbirds, cactus and especially her grandchildren.She is survived by her daughter: Lori (and John) Gustin of Colorado Springs; her son: Don (and Amy) Bennett of Plano, Texas; her sister: Penny (and Lanny) Book of Rush, Colorado; and her six grandchildren: Ryan, Zoe, Jessica, Joshua, Ali and Ella. She leaves behind her canine companions: "Cooper" and "Izzy," and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother: Duane Gieck and her sister: Patricia Puryear.Memorial Services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Sunnyside Christian Church, 2025 N. Murray Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80915.
