It is with deep sorrow and sadness to learn of Uncle Eli's passing. He worked hard, loved and cared for his beloved Sarah and cherished his children and grandchildren, not to mention all of the nephews and nieces! Eli was someone who everyone knew they could count on and go to for support and guidance. His love of family and generosity will truly be missed. My condolences to our family and friends. Rest in peace as you reunite with Aunt Sarah. Love Linda, Nicole and Kyle

Learning of Uncle Eli's passing filled the day with memories and overwhelming sadness. I can't help but think, however, it must be joyful in Heaven as he reunites with his beloved, Sarah. Think I can hear her calling him, "Over hear, 'Q' " Has it been a mere 53 years since my Aunt Sarah introduced him to me as my new Uncle? I already had lots of uncles, but he seemed special somehow. Maybe because he had just married my Aunt who was also special. As a young man of 20, he wasn't all that thrilled at being called "Uncle Eli" by a total stranger. The titled alone probably aged him! Thankfully, the shock wore off, and he claimed me and my sister as his nieces. Over the years, he claimed our children as nephews and nieces and many more as they arrived in the family. He was a man I knew as a friend, confidant and "Uncle Eli". Stories? I gotta a million of them. Like when Grandma Lightfoot "made" Uncle Eli take her to meet the Governor of the State of Colorado to gain support for her teenagers club. Or when he and Aunt Sarah met my parents on a vacation in Mexico and he, thankfully, spoke the language. And many, many more. Throughout his lifetime, he went quietly about his business helping many family and friends without expecting any payback. His strong work ethics and caring nature coupled with strikingly handsome good looks made him easy to brag about. Being a self-educated man he placed a high value on education. When I got old enough, though, sometimes when Aunt Sarah said "Uncle Eli has gone to the library", it was code for meaning he'd gone to the racetrack. You don't suppose . . . . . . ? Condolences to his siblings; our family, and all who knew him. Although saddened at his leaving, I am thankful he is able to shed the cares and worries of this earthly world and have eternal peace and joy with Aunt Sarah. Love, Georgia & Chad
