Obituary of Joan S. Hartzell

Joan S. Hartzell (Neely), 77, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was granted her angel wings on October 15, 2014 surrounded by her family at her home in Colorado Springs following a lengthy illness.Joan was born in Claysville, Pennsylvania on November 27, 1936, the daughter of the late George Neely. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and her "Precious" dog, Alvin. She was a graduate of Claysville High School class of 1955. On January 20, 1956 she married the love of her life, Edwin A. Hartzell, who survives. They celebrated 58 wonderful years of marriage this year. Along with her husband, Joan is survived by her two daughters, Darla (Matt) Walden and Kim (Eddie) Portillos, of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren, John E. (Erin) Ayre of Travis AFB, California and Erica Hicks of Denver, Colorado; and two great-grandchildren, Jonah Matthew Ayre and due in February, Autumn Joan Ayre. She is also survived by her twin sister, Jean Murner of Claysville, Pennsylvania; cousin, Alan Daugherty of Jacksonville, Florida; as well as many deeply loved nieces and nephews.Services will be held at William G.
