Obituary of William Walter Feldmeyer

William Walter Feldmeyer, 95, passed away on October 21, 2014 in Colorado Springs. Bill was born December 22, 1918 in Healdsburg, CA.His California roots have never diminished, most of all his love of Northern California. He enjoyed nothing more than 82 years of hiking on Mt. Tamalpais that he first experienced in 1926 and faithfully continued until moving to Colorado in 2008.His first job was as head of the drafting department at Bethlehem Steel Shipyards in San Francisco, where they built battleships. After the war he was the purchasing agent for a custom cabinet shop in San Francisco. He retired after 30 years as a lumber salesman for Weyerhaeuser—his territory was the Northern California Coastal Region.He was an avid hiker, gardener, mushroom hunter and stream fisherman taking many vacations to the Trinity Alps in far-north central California—camping/cabining with his wife Shirley, their family and eventually grandchildren and great-grandchildren.His parents, William B. Feldmeyer and Pearl Minto Feldmeyer; and sister, Iva Jones preceded him in Death. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Shirley; son, Bruce (Elissa) of Colorado Springs; daughter, Lynn (Clem) Feldmeyer of Calgary, Canada; granddaughters, Wendy Moore and Trudy Meyer (Toby) of Calgary, Meghan Feldmeyer of Durham, NC and Jennifer Rasinen (Chris) of Eagan, MN. His 5 great-grandchildren are Daniel and Cailynn Moore of Calgary and Kelsey, Liam and Sawyer Rasinen of Eagan. He and Shirley were married in San Anselmo, CA on July 22, 1941 where they resided until moving to Colorado.Bill's family will hold a private memorial service in Northern California.
