Obituary of Larry James Eckhoff
Larry J. Eckhoff, age 70, a resident of Huntington Beach, California for 12 years and formerly of Escondido, California passed away on November 5, 2014 at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a brief illness.Larry James Eckhoff was born on March 11, 1944 in Redding, Washington to the late Lawrence F. and Amelia (Dieter) Eckhoff. He was a graduate of Escondido High School and Palomar College. He married Ruth Youngstrand on August 7, 1965 in Escondido.Ruth passed away on June 4, 1993 after a brave battle with breast cancer. After an eleven year courtship, he later married Adriana Van Straalen on November 27, 2011 in Huntington Beach, California. Larry was the manager of Food Basket, now Lucky's Grocery, in San Diego County for over 30 years. He enjoyed travel, the beach, the ocean, airplanes and especially his grandchildren. He will be best remembered for his strong, stubborn and opinionated personality however underneath all that he had a very soft heart.He is survived by his wife: Adriana M. Eckhoff of Huntington Beach and his daughter: Chandra (and husband, Chris) Feather and their children: Stephanie and Michael of Salida, Colorado. Larry has one sister: Sharon Larrabee of Huntington Beach.A visitation will be held from 10-12 noon on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday at the Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
