Obituary of Eddie Valdez

"Eddie" Valdez, age 68, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs and formerly of Antonito, Colorado passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home in Colorado Springs. He had worked for Snow White Cleaners for 23 years and later, had his own business – Eddie's Janitorial. He was a devoted companion, brother, uncle and friend who had been active in the volunteer ministries of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.Jose Eduardo Valdez was born on July 19, 1946 in Antonito to Pete I. and Florence (Lucero) Valdez. He attended school in Antonito and was a 1964 graduate of the high school there. He enjoyed sports, Elvis Presley music and will be best remembered for his kind heart, his generosity and compassion. He will be dearly missed.Eddie is survived by his brother, Virgil W. Valdez of Colorado Springs; and his five sisters, Frieda Wingert of Aurora, Colorado, Alice (Daniel) Uresti of Colorado Springs, Stella Hilsenbeck of Aurora, Laura (Robert) Frederick and Nora (Dale) Revello of Colorado Springs.He is also survived by his longtime companion, Mary Ann Schieve of Colorado Springs; her grandson, Cameron Schieve; and many nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Abel; and two sisters, Stella and Annabelle.A Rosary will be said at 4pm on Friday, December 12, 2014 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10am on Saturday, December 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
