Obituary of Barbara Joyce Brown

Barbara J. (Martin) Brown passed away peacefully December 16, 2014 at the age of 74 at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by her loved ones. She was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in her mid-twenties. Throughout her adult life she bravely battled other chronic illnesses but ultimately succumbed to medical issues involving her liver and kidneys.Barbara was born in Troy, New York to Stafford and Evelyn (Skaarup) Martin. Barbara and her husband, Thomas, met in upstate New York and were married on October 15, 1958. Throughout their married life, they lived in Michigan, Washington State and moved to Colorado Springs in 2002. Barbara valued her family above all else. She created a loving home for her husband and two daughters. She ran a successful childcare business out of her home for many years. She was a compassionate and considerate person always putting other's needs and desires before her own. She spent the majority of her life taking care of loved ones, including her mother, her father and her sister in their time of need.Some of her favorite activities were playing bingo, listening to music, reading, visiting casinos and going out to restaurants. Most recently she enjoyed her iPhone.Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Norma (Martin) O'Connell.She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her daughters, Pam O'Brien and Patti Enright along with their husbands, Mark O'Brien and Paul Enright; six grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie, Katie, Kyle, Amber and Ashley; and two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Harper.A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
