Obituary of Richard Edward Kemling

Richard E. Kemling, age 81, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Parkmoor Village Health Care Center in Colorado Springs. He was a retired Railroad Conductor.Richard Edward Kemling was born on May 29, 1933 in Albion, Pennsylvania to the late Ludwig and Margaret (Olear) Kemling. He graduated from Albion High School in 1950. Shortly after his graduation, he began working for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad as a brakeman and then a as a conductor. While working for the railroad, Richard also owned and operated a small beef farm in Albion. Richard enjoyed wood working, hunting and golfing,. He also coached youth baseball in Abion. Richard moved to Colorado where he owned an small business "Artful Mish Mash" and had a couple of patented picture frames. He was a graduate of Colorado College.He married his wife, Katherine on December 21, 1981 in Colorado Springs.Richard is survived by his wife, Katherine Ann Thomen Kemling of Colorado Springs; his four sons: Dr. Guy (Kathy) Kemling of Pueblo West, Colorado; Ed (Laura) Kemling of Albion, Pennsylvania; Darrell Kemling of East Springfield, Pennsylvania; and Erin (Carrie) Kemling of Pueblo, Colorado; two daughters, Breigh "Cheryl" (Charles) Metcalfe of Elmira, New York and Kimberly McGarvey. He is also survived by two brothers Chuck Kemling (and Peggy Burns) of Albion and Duane "Butch" and (Cheryl) Kemling of Girard, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are his two sisters: Peggy (and Bill) Bolte of Cransville, Pennsyvanlia, and Jane (and Ralph "Ed") Payne of Edinboro, Pennsylvania. Richard had fourteen grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister: Charlotte Iverson.Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs.
